The project commissioned by CAMARA of Rep. of Ireland and funded by AVOLON, was to provide a solar powered classroom into Northern Ethiopia to Sahalla village in Amhara Region, 185 km from Sekota.
The system supplied consists of 4 Solar panels, Inverter, 2 Gel Batteries , a UK compliant 12 port Consumer Unit, with appropriate 13 amp cabling and sockets. In addition, 11 ultra-low power consumption CPUs with low power consumption 21” screens, coupled with appropriate USB keyboards and mice, with CAT 5 network cabling.
10 Pcs have been allocated with 60GB SSDs for use as student client machines with the 11th fitted with 256GB SSD for teacher/server use storing learning materials networked for student access from the client machines.
All materials were shipped to Addis Ababa by air freight and then by road to the school in Sahalla to await our arrival to fit and commission.
Two days of installation work saw the classroom complete and up and running with a CAMARA trainer staying in the village to instruct teachers in the use of both the solar powered computers and the complete suite of learning materials provided by CAMARA on each PC.
